BOOK REVIEW:   LOVE ON TOUR BY LEE ADAMS

Let’s talk about why Love on Tour by Lee Adams isn’t just a good read—it’s an experience. It’s like a book within a book!

If you haven’t picked up the debut novel Love on Tour by Ms. Lee Adams yet, I highly recommend! This contemporary women’s fiction follows Christine as she gets swept up in a whirlwind of tour bus life (forced proximity, anyone?), unexpected friendships, unresolved trauma, insecurities, and a media-fueled narrative she didn’t ask for. (And, let's not forget not one but TWO dreamy, country main male characters!)

For a debut author, Ms. Lee Adams does an excellent job portraying the journey of a 30-year-old woman navigating both her career as a song plugger in the country music industry (who knew that was even a real job?) with the internal weight of unaddressed trauma from her past, dealing with online bullying issues as an adult, working in a career that has thrown her in the spotlight which she has avoided her entire life due to those undealt with past traumas and insecurities, finding love yet feeling the insecurities that many women experience with it, and body image issues.

Christine’s past experiences have clearly left a mark—shaping how she thinks, feels, and navigates the world around her. The way Ms.  Adams weaves these layers into her character feels incredibly authentic. What’s really powerful is how subtly this plays out, because unless you’ve been through something similar— studied therapy—or been through therapy, you might not realize how much your past trauma or experiences can shape your personality traits as an adult. That’s what makes Christine feel so real. Her insecurities, doubts, and emotional roadblocks are deeply relatable, especially for readers who have quietly carried their own past hurts into adulthood. What’s even better is how the author balances that emotional depth with a plot full of heart, humor, and just the right amount of chaos. Watching Christine grow through a whirlwind of country music drama, complicated love, and laugh-out-loud moments is such a rewarding ride.

The story kicks off when Christine (our FMC)  takes an awkward, yet hilarious, fall en route to the CMT Awards—an incident that leads to an unexpected run-in with country music star Austin Garrett. (I mean, could you imagine if that really happened-this is why we love our fiction, al’!)  That unexpected run-in and not-so-great viral moment as Austin’s rumored love interest, Christine, suddenly and unexpectedly finds herself joining his tour bus a few days later, for work…and cue the mayhem. Cyberbullying, past trauma triggers, complicated romantic tension with both Austin and Matt (Austin’s tour manager), and Christine’s internal battles, make this story a layered exploration of strength and self-worth.

And…just when you think Christine's journey couldn’t get any more complicated on this tour bus, bam! Love on Tour drops a thrilling-suspenseful mix into the story. ( I mean, someone get this girl some xanax!)This unexpected twist cranks up the stakes.  (Dang-I love books like this, and the reason I finished it in one day!) Without spoiling it, this all makes Christine wonder if being on this tour bus, her career, constant fear, and budding romance are worth risking everything? Or should she take a break from everyone and head back home for some peace…

One of my favorite aspects of the book? The two male leads. Both Austin and Matt are refreshingly supportive, emotionally intelligent, and genuinely care about Christine’s wellbeing—something we don’t always see in fiction. They’re the kind of guys you root for, not just because they’re swoony, but because they show up. Yes, Austin is wild, but hm, I am not naive in thinking most up-and-coming country music stars (or any musicians for that matter) are “living their best lives” out on tour.  Who am I to judge? And as much as I enjoy a good morally gray villain every now and then, reading about men who lift-up the women around them and want to protect them? Sign me up.

Love on Tour isn’t all about romance; it’s so much more than that. It even gives you an insider’s look at the music industry—from the chaos of tour bus living (spoiler: it’s not as glamorous as you think, sounds kinda stinky) to the behind-the-scenes grind of managing artists and production. Christine’s career in the book was something I’d never heard of before, a closet full of leftover unknown lady clothes/shoes” (not shocked, but shocked), and why does the thought of a lead singer getting left behind late at night at a gas station, because no one does headcounts, make me chuckle? You also learn about some classic spots in Nashville, too! These tiny tidbits offer such authentic inside scoops into the industry thanks to the author’s own background in the industry.  That authenticity shines through and adds another layer to the story that the readers will appreciate.

So, if you have any country love in your heart, or enjoy a music-themed romance with a thrilling curveball and laugh-out-loud lines, you have to give this book a read. It's a quick read too—I devoured it in one day! The book itself is light with soft pages, so you'll flip right through it. You won't regret picking up Love on Tour!

Tropes: Country music industry / slow-burn / close proximity / love triangle / found family / cyberbullying / mystery-suspense-thriller / self-discovery-glow-up / romance / laugh-out-loud

Favorite Character: So hard!! I loved all three main characters. However, Austin and his friendship, protectiveness, kindness, and support to Christine. If there is another book, I hope he finds love next.

IMO Main Thoughts On Book: In my opinion, at its core, it’s about finding your finding your inner strength, releasing the inner voices holding you back, believing in yourself and those supporting you, taking chances even—amidst chaos, believing in romance and following your heart, enjoying the ride (in this case a tour bus, lol) life sends your way, and a whole lot of personal growth.

Favorite Scene or quote: There were A LOT!

When Austin calls Christine drunk, telling her he is surrounded by the male  🍆 (for flagging purposes), and she has to try and figure out where he is. Honestly, there were quite a few scenes that had me laughing out loud, and situations I could see happening to me.
