Confessions of a Booklover
ABOUT ME
Hi there fellow Book Lovers!
Welcome to my little corner of the internet, where we celebrate all things books. Below you will find a little information about this booklover and the goal for the In My Opinion Book Lover world.
How I Became a Lover of Books:
My love for reading was sparked by my parents, who are avid book lovers themselves. (Even in their 70s, they're glued to their Kindles!) In my youth I loved reading The Baby-Sitters Club (Original Series), The Catcher in the Ryee, The Scarlet Letter, and 1984. My obsession blossomed in the late '90s, fueled by cozy afternoons with "Oprah's Book Club" and countless hours spent poolside devouring Danielle Steel novels. (Seriously, if you weren't tanning on the beach or pool in the 90's, what were you doing? 😉)
I later joined the Doubleday Book Club, which helped me amass a truly impressive library. Some of my early favorites include authors like Jodi Picoult, Anita Shreve, Nicholas Sparks, Dan Brown, and James Patterson. And let's be honest, who could forget classics like "Bridget Jones's Diary," "The Notebook," "Memoirs of a Geisha," and "The Da Vinci Code"? (All read before any movie adaptations came out :)

My Current Reading Adventures
These days, I devour a variety of genres, from romance (all sub-genres), women's fiction, historical fiction, thrillers, and the occasional autobiography/biographies & memoirs. I'm a huge history buff, which sparks a particular fondness for historical fiction books. (Thanks to my grandfather, I'm slowly working my way through a beautiful set of classic books from the 1960s!) I have a few auto-buy authors and will purchase new releases without hesitation. A few of these authors include Jodi Picoult, Rebecca Yarros, Kristen Hannah, Brittainy Cherry, Penelope Douglas, Melanie Harlow, Jennifer Hartman, Kim Holden, Mia Sheridan, and Elsie Silver. They have changed over the years, but as of now, any new books by these authors, I am on that pre-order list!
Favorites:
A few books that will forever hold a special place in my heart are Little Women, The Count of Monte Cristo,1984, PS I Love You, Me Before You, The Last Letter, The Nightingal, Kyland, and Bright Side.
The Spoiler Conundrum:
Alright, time for a confession... I'm a recovering spoiler addict! 🙈 Don't judge me! Okay, judge me a little. But in my defense, I really dislike surprises. (Seriously, it's a thing.) So sometimes, when a book has me on the edge of my seat (or hiding behind a cushion), I can't resist taking a peek at what's coming.
It's not every book, mind you. Just the ones that start to nudge my anxiety levels a bit too high. Call it a coping mechanism, call it weakness... I call it self-preservation! 😉
Now, since I know I'm not alone in this (right?), I might sprinkle a few spoilers throughout this blog. BUT FEAR NOT! I'll always give you a clear warning before I unleash any plot twists. Consider it a spoiler alert system for my fellow anxiety-prone readers. ✌️
IMO Book Lover's Goal:
I'm obsessed with all things bookish online—book blogs, BookTok, YouTube channels, Pinterest boards... you name it! But you know what I noticed? I was constantly hopping between different sites to find the information I wanted. Reviews, recommendations, author updates, bookish news... it was all scattered! So I thought, "Why not create a one-stop shop for book lovers?"
My goal is to connect with fellow booklovers across all those platforms, and have this site be a place where you can find all things book-related in a judgment-free zone where we can geek out over books, share recommendations, and celebrate our love for reading. Think of it as your cozy online book club, complete with comfy armchairs and endless cups of tea. ☕️It will take some time to complete everything I envision, so please be patient.
