Confessions of a BookLover
Hello fellow Book Lovers!
Welcome to my little corner of the internet, where we celebrate all things books. Below you will find a little information about this booklover and the goal for the In My Opinion Book Lover world.
All About Me

How I Became a Lover of Books:
My love for reading has to be a genetic inheritance; my parents, both avid book lovers even into their 70s and still glued to their Kindles, essentially mainlined literature into my DNA. Just as I do now, my parents always had a book in their hand or on hand. My reading journey began as a glorious, high-low mashup. As a youth (might be aging myself here), I devoured everything from the dramas of The Baby-Sitters Club and Sweet Valley High, to Judy Blume, before moving on to classics like Little Women, The Secret Garden, The Catcher in the Rye, The Scarlet Letter, and 1984.
The obsession truly blossomed in the late '90s. This era was defined by (No, I never got into the Harry Potter craze-although have since read them all) cozy afternoons fueled by "Oprah's Book Club" suggestions and countless hours spent pool or beachside devouring Danielle Steel or Nicolas Sparks novels.
My desire for needing a new book in my hand (still a desire to this day-I am a hardcopy girlie all the way) had me joining the Doubleday Book Club, which helped me amass a truly impressive library. (I still have many of those books all these years later.) My early favorites in the 2000s included authors like Jodi Picoult, Anita Shreve, Nicholas Sparks, Dan Brown, and James Patterson. This is the time I read some of my favorites to this day- and are still considered that era's biggest cultural touchstones, such as "Bridget Jones's Diary," "The Notebook," "Memoirs of a Geisha," and Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, See my list below of all my favorites during this time.
If you told my high school self that I would one day eagerly haunt thrift and antique stores looking for old books, I would have laughed until my eyes watered. Seriously. Yet, here we are. This unexpected obsession was sparked when I inherited a few older books after my grandparents passed away. It totally flipped a switch. Now, I chase that feeling: I love the texture and the musty, sweet smell of an aged book, and I always find myself wondering about the long journey it took and how many hands it passed through. Case in point: I’m currently (and happily) working my way through a beautiful, musty, vintage set of classic history tomes from the 1960s—a true treasure.
My Current Reading Diet: History, Thrills, and All the Contemporary Feels
So, what am I diving into these days? The shelves are organized chaos, but my absolute heart belongs to Women's Contemporary Fiction and Romance—the juicier and more heartfelt, the better! Beyond that, my reading diet jumps from heart-pounding Thrillers to thoughtful Historical Fiction to just about every other sub-genre of Romance (yes, I read it all) and even an occasional Memoir or Autobiography.
I'm a huge history buff, which sparks a particular fondness for historical fiction or regency era books.
I’m also fiercely loyal to my "Don't Even Wait for the Reviews" authors. My finger hovers over the pre-order button for Jodi Picoult, Rebecca Yarros, Kristen Hannah, Brittainy Cherry, Penelope Douglas, Melanie Harlow, Jennifer Hartman, Kim Holden, Mia Sheridan, and Elsie Silver. They are my current literary obsessions, and frankly, I trust their judgment more than my own at this point! Consider me permanently on their new release VIP list.
